iPad Pro First Impressions

So the "big" news at Apple's September 9th event was the new 12.9" iPad Pro. The iPad Pro sports a new A9X processor, a 5.6 million pixel display, and an unconfirmed 4 gigs of ram. The A9X chip is said to be 1.8X the CPU performance and double the graphics performance of the iPad Air 2 which is quite impressive. The new iPad Pro also has a new high-fidelity four speaker design to give it a much righer audio experience.

Accessories

The two new accessories introduced were the iPad Pro Smart Keyboard and the Apple Pencil. The Smart Keyboard is part of the cover and connects to the iPad Pro on the side via 3 contact points that provide both power and data to and from the keyboard itself. The keyboard is covered in cloth for a nice tactile feel over otherwise fairly flat buttons.

The Apple pencil is Apple's first foray into the "stylus" world. If you've ever used a stylus on an iPhone or an iPad you've probably noticed a bit of a disconnect between what you are intending to draw and the actual outcome. That's because theres always been a lag between the input of the stylus and the responsiveness of the display. Apple has set out to fix that problem with the Apple Pencil and iPad Pro. Apple claims that with the lightning-fast responsiveness of the new iPad Pro's touch sensors and display that the lag has been reduced to an almost imperceptible level. The new Apple Pencil is also pressure and angle sensitive, meaning you can draw thinner/bolder lines just by adjusting your pressure and angle. The Apple Pencil has a lightning connector to allow charging by plugging it directly into the lightning port of the iPad Pro.
