Just hear me out. If you're not familiar with the app, it works like this: you get a notification on your watch to "breathe". The breathe app then shows a growing and shrinking flower that you breathe in and out to for a minute straight or more. This is the basic foundation of meditation. I've been meditating for 10 minutes a day every day for the past three months and it has absolutely changed my life for the better. I'm calmer, I'm happier, I have more focus and patience and far better control over my thoughts and emotions.
There are roughly 12 million Apple Watches in the wild and I'd guess 80 - 90 percent of them have upgraded to watchOS 3 which includes the new breathe app. Every single one of those people has gotten a "breathe" notification and more than likely tried the app out. Most people probably blew it off as a novelty, but I'd venture to guess that more than a million new people have now experienced, for the first time, a tiny sliver of what a daily focused meditation practice can do for your well being. And if half of those people gain an interest in and start practicing meditation, well then that's a giant step forward towards a more peaceful society and I think we can all agree that's a good thing. A very good thing.
